Hannington

Hannington's story

Hannington is just over a year old, but his health has sadly already raised concerns: symptoms such as high fever, sweating and weight loss have prompted his mother, Fatumah, to seek answers at a local hospital. The diagnosis: congenital heart disease.

For a single mother with little money, dealing with this news was a huge blow. Fatumah had to leave her job to care for her son, relying on the support of family and friends to get medicine and essentials, such as milk and sugar. Hannington, however, continued to show surprising vitality, remaining a happy and lively child.

In this difficult time, Fatumah found comfort in the solidarity of other mothers who were facing similar situations. Sharing their pain and hopes gave her the strength to move forward, proving that unity and mutual support can ease even the greatest suffering.

The possibility of surgery at Narayana Health Hospital in Bangalore, India, sparked a glimmer of hope. Thanks to the generosity of numerous donors, Hannington’s journey became a reality.

The departure

Hannington departs on July 21 from Entebbe, Uganda, and lands in Bangalore, India.

Surgery

The little boy was admitted to Narayana Health Hospital and immediately underwent surgery to correct his congenital heart disease.

Back home

Hannington makes a full recovery and, after just over a month in India, flies home on August 27.

Fatumah will never forget the support she received. Every contribution, big or small, made it possible to save her son's life. She now invites anyone who can help to continue supporting children like Hannington.

For her, this journey was not only a mission to save her baby, but also a testimony to the strength of humanity and the importance of sticking together in the face of adversity.
