The family tries in every way to take care of the little boy but Mateo has delays in psychomotor development, growth and cyanotic crises. It soon becomes clear that only a specialized surgical intervention can resolve his condition and, unfortunately, in Venezuela it is not possible to proceed with this type of operation.
Mateo's mother then seeks help through humanitarian organizations and gets in touch with our partner Infancia Solitaria who takes charge of the case of little Mateo, organizes the operation and the stay in Barcelona and requests our intervention for the air transfer of the little boy and his mother.
A donor takes his case to heart and decides to take charge of the little boy's trip, entirely financing the flight. Thanks to her and our network of Partners, at just five months old, Mateo manages to fly from Venezuela to Spain for the operation that will allow him to live a long and full life.
After two and a half months in Barcelona, and after the appropriate checks, Mateo is ready to fly back home and hug his family again.
The departure
Mateo leaves Lara, Venezuela, on September 25 and lands in Barcelona, Spain.
Surgery
On September 30, the little patient was admitted to the Hospital Vall d’Hebron and underwent surgery to resolve his congenital heart disease.
Back home
On December 19, after two and a half months and a complete recovery, Mateo is ready to go home.
